Week of September 15th
So, this was an important show in two ways. The first is that this is the first show of my new apprentice Sydney. I already know Sydney, so there wasn’t any awkward getting-to-know-each-other chit chat. The other is that this was the last house music show. I played a trick on my listening audience though. Rather than playing “oontz-oontz-oontz” house music, I played music about houses. See what I did there. Everyone I told that to gave it a smile, acknowledging that it was actually pretty clever.
This week’s show is dedicated after the fact to a lady I met at Gabe’s named Victoria. After asking her for a light, I got a quote that whichever way it actually happened was amazing. She said to me, and I quote for the most part, “House music is the gateway to gay/yay! Am I right?” then looked for the high five. I don’t know what it was about, but her friend also said she looked like Chaka Khan when she blew her hair out. So, you can do with that what you will.
